This week at Heart of the Matter, we're discussing curriculum. I'm very comfortable with the curriculum we're using this year for both my kids. It feels very organic.
History
I'm "doing" History @ the same level for both my kids. This is what we're using...
History Odyssey from Pandia Press
and...
Story of the World from Peace Hill Press
History Odyssey uses SOTW and CHOW as well as Usborne for the spines. H.O. also has it's own activities. I use some of them and don't use others. It's just nice to have the activity book for SOTW for additional activities.
Math
Math-U-See
We've used MathUSee since the beginning. I love, love, love this curriculum.
Language Arts
Rod and Staff
All About Spelling
Bob Books
The first is Rod and Staff's Beginning Wisely. It's a very thorough curriculum for grammar and writing. The next is a repeat favorite, All About Spelling. We're very much about multisensory methods & this suits us quite well. My youngest will be working with Bob Books for reading. Cristian will be using a variety of books that correlate with our History and just for fun.
Science
R.E.A.L. Science Odyssey
Again I'll be using the same curriculum for both munchkins. We'll hopefully get some nature study time, too.
Character
Child's Book of Character Building, Book 1: Growing Up in God's World-At Home, at School, at Play by Ron & Rebekah Coriell
Extra Curricular
We've been REALLY happy in our experiences this past year with Roots and Shoots. It was a great combination of service to community and ecological awareness. We'll also be revisiting Popejoy's Schooltime Series. I loved the chance to explore cultural and theatrical experiences with the kids for a really reasonable price. Cristian has expressed an interest in pursuing JOAD again. While Isabella would like to get back into gymnastics.
Thanks so much for stopping by and checking out our curriculum. Can't wait to do the same for you!

Nice to see you, sweet friend! Your year looks like it's going to be wonderful. Looking forward to reading more.
Thanks for letting us see what you are doing this year. Hope you have a great school year!
Sounds like you'll have a great school year. I wish we had a roots and shoots club by us.
We use Story of the World, too. We used it with our oldest who is now a Sophomore and he still remembers so much of what he learned from it.
Tina dearie, I salute you for homeschooling your babies! They are so fortunate to have u as their brilliant mummy!!
I am so fortunate to have known you or else I will never get to see awesome cards by you!! Yours are one of it's kind!! Beautiful vintage cards, I wish we have more vintage stuffs in Malaysia :(
You have an awesome week! Xoxo
Sounds like a lovely year is planned. I just commented on another blog about the memories I have for BOB books. Those moments when reading clicked for my kids are some of my favorite memories. I love BOB books! :) Enjoy your year!
Just stopped by from HOTM. I noticed the Popejoy mention, and realize that I must live just north of you (or something like that most likely). We missed last years show due to some snow, but are anxiously waiting to see what the schedule is for the fall.
Great curriculum choices!
