A Very Happy 4th of July

This morning we heard that 4 U.S. soldiers lost their lives in Afghanistan. In Killeen, home to Fort Hood, one of the U.S.'s larger Army bases, one is reminded daily of the sacrifices made for us to walk freely in this country. It's not uncommon to meet a wife or husband that has a spouse on a third tour to Iraq. It's not uncommon to see a sticker on a car for a purple heart. It's heartwrenching to see the Gold Star license plates, of which I'd not seen before coming here. Sometimes when I turn on the news, I don't give a second thought to the back and forth of the commentators over a new bill proposed. Then I see the consequences of disagreeing with the government in countries like Iran, where people are being killed for doing the very same thing.

Happy 4th of July. I pray we all thank the Lord for the freedom we enjoy & pray for the men and women who defend it.
