meg...

I grew up a military brat. I have very few people who I've known since high school, let alone child hood. In college, I met Megan. Aside from my soldier and friends on Facebook, she has known me the longest. And when I say "known", I mean she can tell what kind of mood I'm in based on how I say "hello". We survived college together. She was a bridesmaid at my wedding. She attempted to be there for both my childrens' births. When we were in Colorado and I attended a marriage conference or formal military ball, I'd call Meg up to see if she could watch my kids {even though she lived in Albuquerque}.

Last year, Megan made the decision to foster parent. Being that she is a Director of Adoptions at La Familia, this is not surprising. We both LOVE children. We love the process of adoption. What might be surprising to some is that Megan made the decision to do this as a single mom. For a long time she looked to this Scripture:

But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint {NLT 40:31}

She had thought this was meant for having patience in finding her a mate. Only, she now felt God meant it in her desire to be a parent.

She first fostered a 3 month old deemed Failure to Thrive. For three months she nurtured this sweet child. However when she was presented with the option to adopt him, she said she didn't feel at peace with being the baby's mother.

The very day she turned the baby over to his prospective adoptive family, she received another call to foster 2 boys, four and three. Anyone who has parented ONE boy knows it's a lot of work. Multiply that by 2 and add in the challenges of them not being in a consistent home environment, and you have a lot on your plate. Nonetheless, these boys have thrived in her care. They are sweet, loving, confident children. A big difference from the reluctant, shy boys from last year. They have called Meg "Mom" for quite awhile. Only today is something different. Today, they legally become Megan's boys. They have been in spirit and emotionally her's for awhile. In a way, it's just a technicality. But, too, it's the closing of a book & the opening of a new set of books for her. I have NOTHING but admiration, love, and respect for her. I'm proud beyond all recognition for her, and I am over the moon for her.

Thank you for your support and please join me in celebrating this forever family!
