9/28-10/2 Quinata Academy week in review

Last week was a big one for social interaction. We had a playdate, a park day, a nature hike all with Cari & family, then a fab day at the pumpkin patch with friends as well. The weather was absolutely lovely. We had the honor of visiting with a busy groundhog at a park day. It was very busy preparing for the cold weather and did not at all seem to mind several curious onlookers. At our nature hike, we became acquainted with a VERY old Cottonwood tree that we hope to get to know better in the coming year.

We finished with our study on Somalia and this week we'll be exploring Kenya.

After our nature hike, I found C's handwriting leaving a bit to be desired, so I found this great download using Aesop's Fables.

I also found that a thorough review of muliple digit, column addition was in order after doing a systematic review. So, we took time to work on that last week.

Bella is starting to learn to read!!! I have to keep reminding myself to take it slow. It's amazing to see what she has picked up thus far without any formal sit down learning. We're working slow with this program which I used with C, too. The problem is they get bored with the repetition after awhile and it's good to throw in other materials, too.

All in all it was a week of enjoying our friends, enjoying the Fall weather, brushing up on skills, and trying to settle into our groove here. Thanks for reading about our week.
