Pumpkin Patch

We had a really fun time with our friends at the Rock Creek Farm Pumpkin Patch on Friday. My digital camera has decide it no longer wants to tolerate the trials we put it through. So, just close your eyes and try to imagine what some of these things might look like. My dear friend, Shelby, was kind enough to take some photos of my kids actually getting pumpkins, so I'll share that a little later.

We started off looking at the cute, baby farm animals. It seems they didn't have the enormous floppy eared rabbits that they had last year. I was pretty bummed by that, but I guess they got tired of people standing just in front of the bunnies with their mouths hanging open, wondering how they got so big. Maybe not, maybe it was just me. Anyhow, the children loved seeing the little piglets, kids, lambs, and calf. Although, the animals were not all that amused. Bella decided she needed to feed something. She was so patient standing there calling to the little kids, who were clearly ignoring her.

Next, we moved on to the pumpkin patch. The farm has acres and acres of growing pumpkins. You just pick up some shears and go get one. You don't pay by the size, but by the number of pumpkins. Apparently Bella caught wind of this, because she really wanted this HUGE pumpkin.

You can just see her looking it over just to make sure it's the right one. The kicker is I wasn't there while she was choosing this bohemoth beauty. I had to run to an ATM about a mile down the road because I didn't have cash on me and the patch only took cash. So, Shelby (she's a sweetheart!), hauled this massive gourd from the middle of the patch. I arrived just as she was breathlessly putting Bella's name on it. What would encourage my child to pick this particular one?

Well, because it's the perfect size for my four year old to sit on! And, that is exactly what she said ;) That's my girl!

Cristian, on the other hand, picked a much more modest pumpkin, much to Shelby's relief, I'm sure.

Needless to say, I owe Shelby big time! :)
